What are the advantages/disadvantages of hitchhiking?
Hitchhiking is always an unforgettable experience, an adventure which never brings the same emotions and usually has a different outcome every time. It is also a way to get acquainted with a mixture of people, most of which you would never stumble upon in your everyday environment. It is also a way of travelling useful when your resources are limited and the cheaper ride you find, the better for you.
The main disadvantage of hitchhiking is that you usually can’t get straight to your destination. You need to adjust to the person that gives you a ride and don’t have much to say about it. Additionally, you often have to wait before somebody actually stops to get you – and standing at the side of the road, often in bad weather conditions, is neither healthy nor interesting. Last but not least, the thing that makes hitchhiking exciting can make it dangerous at the same time – you never know who’s sitting behind the wheel and getting in a stranger’s car always carries some risk with it.
