How would you try to communicate with someone who doesn’t speak your language?

I think that I would initially try talking in English as it is the most popular foreign language and it would be probable that this person knows it. If it didn’t work I would try to use their mother tongue with the help of an electronic translator and a dictionary. But, of course, the best way to communicate with a foreigner would be to use the help of interpreter. If all of the above options failed or I were unable to use them, I would try the sign language – this works every time.
