I think stereotypes must have come from somewhere. What I mean by that is that I believe there is a little bit of truth in each one of them. They may not relate to every person of a given background, nationality or sex but there must be a majority of the community with a particular trait for a stereotype to be formed and exist. The all-tolerant society of today does not want to acknowledge this fact, but they will eventually have to.
Absolutely not. In my opinion, stereotypes are sad remains of the past. They have been passed down from generation to generation and nobody seemed to question them. Hence the prejudice is so rooted in the society, even though it is clearly only based on historical beliefs that have no reflection in reality and have been long outdated.
