Do you think racism is a thing of the past?
I can honestly say that racism is still there, people are just not as open about their prejudice as they used to be in the past now that it’s not widely acceptable. Back in the day, it was common to be vocal about your views and it didn’t shock or appal anybody. I don’t think that this way of thinking would entirely disappear in such a short time, especially that it usually takes a few generations surrounded by a new ideology for it to become a standard.
I definitely think that racism is no longer present among today’s society. A lot of time has passed since it was first stated that treating people as inferior based on their skin colour is not ok. I think that the world has moved on and the society now realises this is not the way to go. Also, seeing groups of people of diverse backgrounds and cultures getting along and ignoring the obvious differences reassures me that my belief is right.
