Do you believe in the death of a book?
I totally believe in this still recent phenomenon. A book in its traditional forms has been gradually replaced by e-books and audiobooks, which are a convenient alternative for these who don’t want to leave their computers or use the library. They are also a good solution to problems of deforestation that are so close to our society nowadays, when everybody feels pressure to live eco-friendly. Other than that, the today’s fast pace of life and the lack of time for reading lengthy books made people look for different sorts of amusement.
Books have too long of a history to give in to this new trend of reading online or not reading at all. It might be an old fashioned way of spending your spare time, but I think there is a group of people who can be called book worms and will stay ones. Also, I believe paper forms of writing are still liked by many. Although the media tries its best to force people to “move with the times”, I think electronic versions of books somewhat take away the atmosphere that is present when reading a book in its original form. And this is why I think those who predict the death of the book are wrong.
